Steps to Connect Challenge

Get ready for a fun challenge with your family and friends and connect with new people!  Family Connection-Communities In Schools of Athens (FC-CIS) Steps to Connect Challenge will happen during the month of September.  Our goal is to reach and involve as much of our local community as possible but anyone, anywhere can join in.  Participants will challenge themselves to walk, run, or bike.  They will select from three different mileage goals.  Participants will be divided into teams to add some friendly and lively competition on a “participants only” Facebook group page.  Team leaders will post encouragement to help you stay committed to completing your goal.  Our hope is that the challenge will inspire everyone to get moving and outdoors.  This event will be an important fundraiser for FC-CIS of Athens.  FC-CIS is a partnership of organizations and individuals working together for the success of all in our community. 
 
Registration (August 12 – August 29)  Register early!!
 
1st Step - One-time entry fee (cool T-shirt included for each participant)
 
$30 Individual
$50 Family (up to family of 5)
$15 Family or individual for those experiencing financial hardship
Participants are welcome to donate above the entry fee if they would like! 
 
2 ways to donate:

- a check payable to “FC-CIS of Athens”; mail to FC-CIS, P.O. Box 1904, Athens, GA 30603;
  Please put “Steps to Connect” and your email in the check memo line. 
 
2nd Step - Join the “Steps to Connect Challenge” Facebook Private Group page:

3rd Step - We will email you to get your important initial data: T-shirt size and your mile challenge goal for the month = Walkers and Runners (30, 60, or 100 miles) and Cyclists (50, 200, or 400 miles)
 
4th Step – Your team assignment (RED, BLUE, or YELLOW) will come in an email.
 
5th Step – The Challenge will begin September 1.  There will be daily encouragement from our Team Leaders and participants can share their experiences on the “participants only” Facebook Group page.  At the end of each week, we will email a form for logging your miles completed for the week.  The team with the most miles wins for the week and will be announced.
 
6th Step - T-shirts and goody bags will be available for pick-up on the third week of the challenge.
 
We will finish the challenge by announcing the winning team for most miles completed!
